DAY 6: BELIZE CITY, BELIZE
Located at the confluence of rivers flowing into the sea, Belize City was a hub for the trade of precious timbers such as logwood and mahogany during British colonial rule from the 17th century. Although it only became independent in 1981 and the British military presence ended in 1994, the city retains much of its rich history. Today, Belize City is a gateway to a world of pristine tropical nature, diverse cultures, and a tumultuous Central American past.

Mexico's largest inhabited island, Cozumel gained global fame after ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau hailed its coral reefs as some of the world's most beautiful ecosystems in 1959. In addition to diving, visitors can explore Mayan cultural heritage , white-sand beaches , and vibrant neighborhoods. Visit the ancient sacred center of Chichen Itza , or hike through the Faro Celerain ecological reserve with its mangroves and Mayan ruins.
