5-NIGHT IN SIX SENSES BHUTAN & 2-NIGHT IN BANGKOK JOURNEY

5-NIGHT IN SIX SENSES BHUTAN & 2-NIGHT IN BANGKOK JOURNEY

In Bhutan’s serene winter, where snow-capped mountains shimmer under gentle sunlight and time seems to slow,

Six Senses invites you on a sacred journey—a path where nature, culture, and refined simplicity merge in every moment.

Traveling through Paro, Thimphu, and especially Gangtey, this is a winter symphony for souls seeking purity, stillness, and wonder.

+ Six Senses Paro: A serene beginning, where you can explore the mystical Tiger’s Nest bathed in winter light, then retreat to the cozy warmth of a lodge nestled in ancient pine forests.

+ Six Senses Thimphu: A quiet escape above the capital, where you’ll discover Bhutan’s winter traditions—hot butter tea, yak butter candles, and moments of meditation in age-old monasteries.

+ Six Senses Gangtey: The winter jewel of Bhutan—perched above the vast, tranquil Phobjikha Valley, where hundreds of black-necked cranes return each year to escape the cold. This is also where you might spot herds of yak peacefully grazing on mist-covered hillsides—a landscape both majestic and poetic.

Why choose the Six Senses journey in winter?

+ A rare chance to witness the wonders of Bhutan’s cold season:

The black-necked crane—a sacred symbol of Bhutan—only appears in Gangtey from late autumn to early spring. Along with yak herds, you’ll step into a vivid and soulful winter tableau.

+ Warm, meditative spaces at Six Senses:

With traditional fireplaces, minimalist design, and warm earthy tones, each lodge feels like a perfect retreat nestled in the mountains.

+ Deeply personal experiences:

From guided crane walks with conservation experts to intimate private dinners by the fire overlooking snow-dusted valleys—every moment is tailored uniquely for you.

+ Six Senses’ legendary service:

Discreet, intuitive, and deeply attentive—this is a place where nothing is too much, and nothing is ever missing.

Every winter, around 400 of these majestic birds migrate from Tibet to spend the season in this valley. Situated at the edge of the forest and wetlands in the Phobjikha Valley, the center features an observation room equipped with professional telescopes, allowing guests to easily view the cranes. Informational displays throughout the center share insights into the natural and cultural history of the area.

It stands as the symbol of Phobjikha Valley and serves as a center for Buddhist philosophy and monastic education.

    • Travel from Gangtey to Thimphu (4.5 hours)

    • In the afternoon, you will join a hike to Talakha Goemba monastery, located on a ridge at an altitude of 3,050 meters, above the lodge. This monastery is little known, but has one of the most spectacular views of the entire Thimphu valley below.
    • Overnight at Six Senses Thimphu
  • DAY 5: SIX SENSES THIMPHU

    • Visit Changangkha Pagoda – a sacred pilgrimage site overlooking the Thimphu Valley. This is where new parents come to name their children and seek blessings from the tutelary deity Genyen Domtsangpa, who is considered the guardian of birth and protection of children. Founded in the 13th or 14th century, it is possibly the oldest surviving pagoda in Thimphu, predating the unification of Bhutan in the 17th century.
    • From the temple, you can hike for about 90 minutes or drive to visit Buddha Dordenma – a 52-meter-high Buddha statue.
    • Overnight at Six Senses Thimphu.
